Located in the Catskills near the site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival, this 2,000-square-foot home is the Monterey, one of several mid-century modern models built as part of the White Lake Homes community along the western shores of White Lake during the 1960s.
Drawn to the area's history and the architecture's original character, the owners asked I-Beam Design to renovate the house for contemporary living while preserving its mid-century spirit. The original development offered a selection of modest, modern homes designed for relaxed lakeside living, supported by shared amenities including a community pool, clubhouse and access to White Lake.
The renovation introduces contemporary materials and amenities while respecting the simplicity and optimism of the original architecture. A playful palette of color, pattern and mid-century-inspired furnishings creates a relaxed environment designed for gathering with family and friends—reimagining the house as a year-round retreat while retaining the character of its 1960s origins.
