2068 5TH AVENUE - NEW YORK, NY
Historic Harlem, Reimagined
SCOPE: Gut Renovation and Expansion
SIZE: 5500 sq. ft. total
CLIENT: Chris Ingram
Located in a historic Harlem district, this former apartment building was gutted and transformed into three high-end duplex residences, including a penthouse unit. The design preserves the character of the original brownstone through exposed brick and restored architectural elements, while introducing a distinctly contemporary language of glass, light and clean modern finishes.
Floor-to-ceiling glass partitions draw natural light deep into the residences, while interior stairs connect the duplex levels and fully glazed doors extend the living spaces onto private terraces overlooking a lush rear garden. Solid maple floors, custom glossy-white kitchens, lava-stone countertops and translucent partitions create a refined counterpoint to the building's historic fabric.
